This research analyses the influence of Neo-Eurasianism on the formulation of Russian foreign policy and its impact on contemporary geopolitical dynamics. Inspired by the thinking of Alexander Dugin, this paradigm proposes Russian leadership in the Eurasian space as an alternative to the Western liberal model, promoting a hierarchical reconfiguration of international relations. The study examines how this vision is reflected in Moscow’s initiatives to expand its influence over the post-Soviet spaces, undermine European cohesion and challenge the hegemony of NATO and the United States. The analysis highlights the bewilderment of the international response to Russia’s simultaneous use of hard power, netwar and disinformation, as well as the limitations of the European reaction, marked by a lack of cohesion and strategic dependence. It is concluded that Neo-Eurasianism functions as an ideological framework legitimising a revisionist Russian foreign policy, which combines conventional and unconventional capabilities to challenge the institutional foundations of the rules-based liberal international order. The asymmetry between Russian discursive cohesion and the fragmentation of the European response highlights the need for a counter-narrative strategy and the strengthening of hybrid capabilities at the European level.
