The management of conservation areas is likely to generate socio-environmental conflicts as a result of the interests of different groups regarding access and conservation. This study aims to analyse the contribution of environmental education to the management of socio-environmental conflicts between the community of Inguane and the Marine Biology Station in the Marine and Forestry Reserve on the island of Inhaca. The method used was qualitative, which made it possible to establish a relationship between the causes and forms of socio-environmental conflict management and the respective role of environmental education strategies. Semi-structured interviews and systematic observation were used as data collection tools. The responses were analysed using content analysis. The study found that the conflicts are the result of the communities' subsistence activities, although there are activities to raise awareness of the preservation of the natural resources of Inhaca Island.
